Jordan: Restaurant Owners Call for Vending Mechanisms Adjustement During Ramadan

The Syndicate of Restaurants and Pastry Shops Owners called on Thursday, in a protest in front of the “Irbid” Industry Directorate to demand the amendment of decisions related to the operation mechanism of restaurants and pastry shops during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Jordanian Labor Observatory reported on its official website that the union demanded the extension of working hours until ten in the evening and allowing cash payment in addition to the electronic format.

The Observatory explained that this sector is the sanctuary of the poor and regular citizens in the first place and it’s essential to allow establishments such as restaurants and pastry shops to operate in Ramadan.

The Observatory also called for permission to sell “Al-Qatayef” similar to bakeries, which is the basis for the work of pastry shops during the month of Ramadan, in addition to demanding that all restaurants should be allowed to operate without exception within the applicable conditions without the need to apply for a permit to do so.
