The Democratic Confederation of Labor called, in an urgent message addressed to the Minister of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform and President of the Economic Vigilance Committee to track the repercussions of the Corona pandemic,to Mohammed Benchaaboun, to set up a mechanism to track the economic and social situation and follow up the implementation of the committee’s decisions and assess their impact on the economic and social situation.
According to web newspaper, “Labor Democracy”, the Confederation called for the allocation of a social financial grant of no less than 2000 Dirhams per month (about $ 200) to groups not registered with the National Social Security Fund, workers in the informal sector, the unemployed who support families, widowed women, and all families without a fixed income, or in vulnerable situation.
The Confederation requested the approval of the data available to the Ministry of the Interior to determine the targets, in order to provide the conditions for compliance with the health emergency law, in addition to granting satisfactory leaves to all pregnant workers, and those who suffer from chronic diseases.
The address also stressed the necessity of tracing the repercussions of the new Corona epidemic, updating the accompanying procedures, and taking measures specific to the rural world that suffers from a “doubled ordeal” due to drought, which has worsened and deteriorated, with the Corona pandemic, especially for small and medium peasants.
The confederation demanded in this regard exempting this category of peasants from paying the loan instalments.
Moreover, the Executive Office of the Confederation appreciated all the precautionary measures taken to confront this scourge, as well as the decisions of the Vigilance Committee in favor of “enterprises, workers and those registered in the National Social Security Fund.”
However, the Secretary-General of the Confederation, did not forget to alert in his letter to the situation of more than 600.000 unregistered workers in social security, and their lack of any material income under the state of health emergency.
