Justice Sector in Morocco: Refusal to Freeze Promotion, Cancel Recruitments and Call to Contribute to the Coronavirus Fund

The National Office of the National Syndicate of Justice, which is affiliated with the Democratic Labor Confederation, expressed its rejection of Prime Minister’s Circular No. 20/20 and considered it irresponsible because it sought to freeze the internal promotion and cancel employment matches in the public service.

In its statement, the union held the government alliance responsible for worsening the social situation, fabricating the causes of tension to ensure its “continuity in government”, violating the principle of equality among state employees, confiscating the right of the unemployed to employment, and a prior announcement of the measures to pursue austerity policy and a restructuring of the structural evaluation program.

The union statement called on the Prime Minister to commit to implementing recruitment matches announced by the Ministry of Justice in order to strengthen the social front to face the repercussions of the spread of the new Corona virus and safeguard the right of candidates to work, in order to preserve judicial and internal security.

The union also called for programming the liquidation of the file of higher education degree holders in the draft finance law for the year 2021 by allocating financial positions to the number of holders of certificates remaining after the 2020 recruitment candidacy, calling also for voluntary contribution to the emerging Coronavirus fund, as an expression of the spirit of solidarity.

The union stressed the need to expedite the decision of the ordinary and extraordinary transitional movement using the Audio conference mechanism if necessary, to respond to requests for social transfers and to ensure the normal functioning of the justice facility, calling on the Ministry of Justice to raise the budget allocated to keep pace with the precautionary measures against the emerging coronavirus, and provide All means of protection for employees working in all divisions of presentation, investigation and detainees’ sessions, to ensure their safety and protect them from the emerging infection of the Coronavirus.
