After endeavors from the regional labor union in the governorate of Ben Arous and coordination with the governor of the region and the employers organization, it was decided to close the SAGEM company’s two branches in the regions of “Ben Arous” and “Al-Zahra”, after its management had previously insisted that its workers shall continue to work.
Workers revealed in press statements that they had received a notice inviting them to join their headquarters and resume work normally in an optional manner.
Workers also expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision, considering that their health safety is threatened and that calling the workers to resume the activity in an optional manner will push those who are only contracted workers to be submissive to the decision for fear of not renewing their contracts or not settling their professional status.
Workers were also surprised that the government granted an exceptional permission to their company to continue its activities despite the delicate health situation the country is going through due to the growing infection with the Coronavirus, knowing that the main company in France closed its doors to protect its workers.
