Morocco: Parliament Employees Contribute a Third of their Monthly Salary to Counter Coronavirus Efforts

Parliament employees in both chambers of parliament and advisers decided to contribute to the fund for managing the emerging Coronavirus pandemic, which came into effect after the issuance of the related decree in the Official Gazette No. 6865 last Tuesday and which King Mohammed VI had ordered to create a few days ago with credits of up to 10 billion dirhams .

According to the “Hespress” news website, the decision was made by a voluntary and collective initiative of the staff and employees of the House of Representatives and Advisors, with the petition of the presidents of the two chambers to withhold one third of their monthly wages for the benefit of the fund, which was directed by the king to combat the Coronavirus.

The Special Fund bears the name of the “Fund for the Management of the Corona Virus Pandemic” and is expected to be presented to Parliament for approval in the closest financial legislation, as required by the relevant legal requirements.
