The Jordanian Labor Observatory website revealed that a well-known hotel owned by the Social Security Corporation, taking advantage of the current Coronavirus pandemic and considering the layoff of a number of its employees.
The hotel sought to enable some of them with an unpaid leave, not to mention the non-payment of a monthly salary in February, March and March.
Sources revealed to the “Labor Observatory”, that the employees demanded their rights from the hotel management, but the administration neglected and justified this by saying that the social security did not grant it sufficient financial capabilities to pay the employees salaries.
Employees contacted social security officials, but they responded by: “We are not responsible”, despite the fact that the hotel is owned by Social Security.
The sources also disclosed that a financial conflict between hotel management and social security precludes these “financial capabilities”, meaning that employees are the victims of this conflict.
Since last year, hotel employees have faced problems with the hotel management, as the administration does not wire salaries on time, and if it decided to give them their salaries, they would give employees their salaries through “a few advances” and on separate periods. A number of employees have not received salaries since last year.
