The Trade Union and Workers Services House confirmed that despite the decisions made by the Ministry of Manpower to disburse an exceptional grant of 500 pounds ($ 31) for the affected workers, it has set criteria for disbursement that made them reach only a few informal workers who are registered and have a measure of skill from Before the workforce directorates and those registered with the Directorate’s database, and carrying a notebook from the Irregular Employment Department,
The service house stated that the ministry stated that no free labor is irregular, and irregular employment falls within 5 sectors and it is required that it be fixed in the national ID card of its profession (contracting sector, agricultural sector workers, workers in the sector of mines and quarries, fishing workers, workers Ports) where 5.575 workers have been identified who meet the requirements and regulations for irregular employment for ages 18 to 59.
In this context, the services house asked, in a report issued this week, about the fate of the remaining workers who operate in the informal sector, and they do not meet these conditions, such as mobile sellers, domestic workers, and daily workers.
The House of Services highlighted that some NGOs, banks, and the Ministry of Endowments (Zakat House) have launched their initiatives to support informal employment, which are initiatives that no one can discredit, noting their reservations about the accompanying of some of the depictions or practices that may insult the recipient of support .
They noted that these measures were taken by the government without consulting with the stakeholders themselves (workers / unions) as well as the complete absence of the role of the General Workers Union despite its sufficient capabilities.
