Egypt: Consideration to Renew the Imprisonment Rule of Union Worker Khalil Rizk

The Supreme State Security Prosecution considered, in its session held on Sunday, the renewal of the imprisonment of union worker Khalil Rizk in case No. 1475 of 2019.

In the case, Khalil faced charges of “participating with a terrorist group with knowledge of its aims and misusing social media to spread rumors and false news”.

Security forces arrested Khalil from one of the cafes in the Al-Marj neighborhood, where he lives, and he disappeared for two days before appearing in the prosecution with the fifth assembly, accused of the previously mentioned charges.

In his first interrogation session, Rizk denied the accusations against made him and said that one of the leaders of the Egyptian Workers Union was the one who fabricated the accusation because of a dispute between them in previous labor cases.
