Morocco: Postponement of Employment Promotions

Prime Minister Saad Eddine Al-Othmani decided to postpone all promotions and cancel recruitments in Morocco, in a circular addressed to ministers in government sectors, with the aim of directing its financial allocations to counter the negative effects of the Coronavirus.

The Prime Minister’s decision comes at a time when decree of Law 2.20.292 related to enacting provisions related to the state of health emergency stipulated the necessity of taking all necessary measures required by this case, during the period specified for that, in accordance with organizational and administrative decrees and decisions or through leaflets and communications, for immediate and urgent intervention to prevent the worsening of the epidemiological situation of the disease and to mobilize all available means to protect the lives of people and ensure their safety.

In this regard, Al-Othmani called for postponing all recruitment processes except for those whose results have been announced, and it does not include the employees and agents of the departments in charge of internal security and the health sector, indicating that work will be taken to respond to the needs of public administrations of employment after passing this crisis and in available capacity limits.

On the other hand, Al-Othmani stressed the necessity of postponing the settlement of all promotions programmed in the current year that have not been completed so far, stating that the commanders of the exchange must not submit the draft decisions embodied of these promotions to the concerned financial monitoring interests.
