The Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform revealed that approximately 62 % of Moroccan enterprises involved in the Social Security Fund have stated that they have been affected by the repercussions of the emerging Coronavirus.
Of the 216.000 enterprises involved in the Social Security Fund, 134.000 enterprises were affected by the Corona pandemic until February 2020, which is approximately 62 % of the total number of enterprises involved with the National Social Security Fund.
As for the number of employees who are not working, according to the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform, they are numbered at 810.000 private sector employees out of two million and 600.000, which is 31%.
According to Mohamed Benchaaboun, Minister of Economy, Finance and Reform of the administration, two out of 3 enterprises stated that they had been affected by the repercussions of Coronavirus, while statistics indicate stopping work for one of the 3 employees.
The National Social Security Fund begins, starting on Wednesday, 8 April, the payment of financial compensation for all employees dismissed by their employers due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Media sources reported that these people will receive a transfer on their bank account (90% of them have a bank account), and they can receive it from banks or ATMs.
As for the procedure, if the National Social Security Fund is not available on their bank account numbers, the payment of their compensation will be through Wakash agencies after the performance code is identified through an SMS over the phone.
In the case the fund is not available on the phone number of the concerned person, the code will be sent to him/her via postal mail at the registered address with the National Social Security Fund.
They will benefit from the monthly punitive compensation specified in 2000 Dirhams (195 dollars) decided by the government for the benefit of contractors in a difficult situation due to the emerging crisis of the Coronavirus; therefore, a monthly net punitive compensation will be disbursed during the period from March 15 to June 30 at 1000 dirhams ($ 97) for the month of March, and 2000 dirhams ($ 195) for the months of April, May, and June.
In addition to the monthly punitive compensation, the employees involved will benefit from compulsory health coverage and family compensation services.
