Bahrain: Compulsory Closure of Industrial and Commercial Shops to Reduce the Number of Workers and Respect Health Regulations

Minister of Health, Al-Saleh, issued a number of precautions in industrial and commercial shops to contain and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. The decision will be in effect for 3 months from the date of its issuance.

Al-Watan website reported that it was decided to punish anyone who violates its provisions with the penalties stipulated by the Public Health Law, relying on the commitment of commercial and industrial shops to reduce the number of workers in the work areas, and to provide all personal protection tools for all workers, such as masks, gloves, sterilizers, disinfectants and the necessary cleaning tools and materials.

The decision prohibits workers from working in case there is a suspicion of any infection among workers or customers or any of them complaining of symptoms of sore throat or cough or high temperature. The worker is excluded and is prohibited from doing any work and these cases are reported immediately by calling the Coronavirus hotline 444.

The decision obligated the stores to instruct workers to leave a distance of 1 meter between each worker and between the customers and the visitors to the store, to follow up the health status of workers on a daily basis, measure their temperature before entering the work site and measure the customers’ temperature before entering.

The decision also stipulated that workers’ changing rooms should be activated properly in stores that require changing clothes, and that hands should be sterilized properly using water and soap, rubbing fingers, rubbing the palm of the hand with fingers, rubbing the wrist and washing hands from soap and then drying them.

The decision also indicated that hands should be sterilized at each of the following stages of work: before preparing food, after coming into contact with intent meat and poultry, after using the bathroom, after touching the mouth or nose, before and after handling food, after disposing of garbage, after smoking or touching shoes Or after picking up any materials from the ground, and the necessity of cleaning and sterilizing shopping carts before and after use by customers, and cleaning and sterilizing surfaces continuously before, after and during work.
