Nermin El-Sherif, President of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Libya, met yesterday, Monday, members of the Ports Syndicate, Mohamed Al-Mismari, Shaaban Al-Daleh, and Dr. Hamza Al-Khafifi, President of the General Union of Dentists, with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Ports Company, Captain Yazid Bouzarda.
The meeting examined the latest measures taken to prevent Coronavirus in Libyan ports, where the president was informed by the Director-General of a ministry in the Supreme Committee to combat the Corona virus in the workplace
One of its members is Dr. Hamza Al-Khafifi and Shaaban Al-Dalah.
It was also emphasized that one of the tasks of this committee is to educate and train Libyan port workers on the prevention of the deadly virus, as well as work with other sectors to provide deficiencies through exchange and research.
The President assured the Director General that the port administration provided gloves, masks, alcohol, and all means of protection for the employees of the company and for all the operating entities inside the port, including customs and outlets, as well as every customer or visitor.
The company also assigned specialized companies to sterilize and disinfect the headquarters, offices and all places in the port, including the floors. The President requested the General Manager to assist in obtaining protective clothing for the workers who are going to the ships coming to inspect the crew or the anchor workers on the ship.
Indeed, Nermin El Sherif called on the head of dentists, Dr. Hamza, who provided part of the required protective measures, with the remainder saving after a day.
The Director-General also requested the President of the Federation to address the Supreme Committee for Combating Virus by organizing a day to sensitize workers and educate them on proper prevention through doctors specialized in the field of infection control.
El-Sherif stressed in this regard that the necessary medical staff will be provided.
Mr. Yazid thanked the President of the Federation and the Syndicates for their dedication to work to protect workers as well as the efforts of this committee, which will have a major role in protecting the country and the citizen, and that it is ready for any cooperation that serves and protects all the Libyan people.
