After King Mohammed VI has given the initiative to create the fund for the management of the “Coronavirus” pandemic, and the measures it contained in protecting workers and preserving jobs, many questions were raised about the measures the country would take in this area.
The decree stated that the fund will finance the expenses related to maintaining jobs and mitigating the social consequences of the virus, the amounts paid to public institutions or public or private bodies, the amounts paid to territorial groups, and the amounts paid to the public budget.
According to the “Hispress” news site, during the presentation of a draft decree creating the Observatory Account for Special Matters under the name of the “Coronavirus Pandemic Management Fund”, Mohamed Benchaaboun revealed a set of measures that will be taken to keep jobs.
Benchaaboun announced that a number of major companies, and European ones in particular, that have opened branches in Morocco, decided to stop their activities; foremost among them is the company “Renault”, which decided to stop because of the tens of thousands of orders placed on hold, stating that “contractors working in this field and factories will close their doors”.
In this regard, Benchaaboun said, “The Vigilance Committee will stand on the daily evaluation of the economic and social situation”, noting that “the committee is following what is happening, and these companies will be kept abreast so that they do not leave”.
On the other hand, the government official affirmed that the state will maintain the minimum level to ensure families working in this field a decent living, adding that “employees will be kept up to a certain level to ensure their daily living”.
Among the measures that were taken, according to Benshaaboun, is the suspension of the payment of social contributions to the National Social Security Fund during the next three months, stressing “the need to take social aspects into account, so that there is no imbalance in society”.
