Jordan: Agreement to Raise the Minimum Wage to 260 Dinars

The Tripartite Committee for Labor Affairs agreed during a meeting held on Monday, headed by Minister of Labor Nidal Al-Batayneh, in the presence of the concerned authorities, that the minimum wage would be 260 dinars as of 01/01/2021.

Al-Batayneh, who is the head of the committee, said in previous statements that the committee studied data, statistics, studies and analysis of data related to the minimum wage.

Al-Batayneh stressed that he represents the government in the committee and that it is committed to taking into account the interests of employers as well as workers.

Al-Ghad website reported that Al-Batayneh said that “We would like the minimum to be 400 dinars or 500 dinars, but we have investments that we must maintain and some investments will stop operating if the minimum wage increases to more than their ability, and at the same time we realize that the current minimum wage of 220 dinars is extremely low and must be modified”.
