Notaries in Morocco entered a national strike on Thursday and Friday, in protest against the decision to issue a fee-roofing decree.
In its statement, the National Notaries Authority refused to consider the fees of notaries as a commodity subject to market law and supply and demand, confirming its rejection to adopt the specific decree of the remuneration fees from the approved standards to determine the fees of the notaries.
In their statement, the notaries considered that the roofing of the notary's fees would make the decree void of its content and would be born dead, considering that keeping the term “the notary has the right to fees not exceeding the tariff attached to this decree” would fuel unfair and unfair competition between the notaries.
The report of the Competition Council related to its opinion on “fixing the fees of notaries" in the Official Gazette No. 6856 issued on February 13, created the wrath of the Notaries Authority in Morocco.
