The Omani Committee for Human Rights monitored the dismissal of 355 workers from one of the construction companies due to the completion of their work from the project entrusted to them, and it was agreed between the Ministry of Manpower and the General Union of Workers of the Sultanate of Oman and the company to transfer all workers in various professions and jobs with the same wages and benefits to another project Provided that the company provides housing, food and transportation to the transferring workers.
The Committee also monitored the termination of services for workers in a company working in the construction sector, which numbered (430) workers, and it was found that the matter was settled by agreement between the Ministry of Manpower and the General Federation of Workers of the Sultanate of Oman and the company by obliging the company to spend an amount equal to the total wage for three months for laid-off workers who have reached a number of 298 workers.
The company also had to pledge to give them priority in employment if new working projects become available, in addition to the Ministry of Manpower seeking to find job opportunities for them.
It was also agreed upon that the company would be required to keep the other 132 employees and not dismiss them.
The Committee also monitored during the year cases related to the difficulty of moving a foreign worker to another employer for reasons that are related to the failure of the employer to pay wages.
The issue was related to the termination of the contract of employment before the expiry of the period of its validity, and the failure to provide work for the worker through unjustified requirements of requesting large amounts of money from The new worker or employer.
As for the treatment of delayed settlement of labor cases in the private sector, the Ministry of Manpower referred the parties of the dispute in the labor cases to conciliation and reconciliation committees to take over the settlement of the dispute between them.
Such measure reflects the concern to facilitate the settlement of labor disputes quickly and effectively, which must remove obstacles to the differences affecting the normal relationship between the various parties to the market.
