Morocco: Upcoming Protests at the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Competencies

The Union of Employees of the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Competencies, affiliated to the General Union of Workers in Morocco, decided to take new escalatory measures in protest to the delay in issuing the agency's statute.

The union stated in a press release that it would start its protest plan, by carrying an emblem and organizing demonstrations in front of the concerned ministry and the Ministry of Finance. It also threatened to go into a general strike.

The union considered that delaying the issuance of the law is a clear and explicit contradiction of government entities, namely the Ministry of Will, the Ministry of Finance and the Prime Ministry, to the right of its workers in a basic law.

It also confirmed its rejection of the approach adopted by the General Administration to publish the agency’s goals for the year 2020 with regional administrations and local agencies, which changes the negotiation path and a regression towards the policy of imposing the reality.

The union called for opening the workshops of the development plan of the agency while invoking the participatory approach of the most representative social actor, which goes in the interest of the agency and its worker.

The head of the department of management control made accusations concerning “the rehabilitative configurations that are contradictory to the rules in effect and that were put to place without the knowledge of local and regional managers”.

The head of the management control department also called for an investigation to verify and check the validity and liability of existent reports.
