Protest by Employees of Wwater and Electricity Agencies and Companies in Dozens of Moroccan Cities

Thousands of workers from water, electricity, and purification companies in Morocco demonstrated in 18 cities simultaneously, on Thursday morning, to denounce their exclusion from the increase in wages, just like the rest of the sectors, and the non-implementation of the requirements of the Marrakesh Agreement Protocol signed on June 15th 2019 in Marrakech.

The protesters gathered in front of the headquarters of "Reidal", "Amandis", "Lydec" and "The Independent Agency for Water, Electricity and Purification" in the cities of Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Jdeideh, Settat, Tetouan, Marrakech, Agadir, Fes, Quneitra, Beni Mellal, Larache, Oujda, Taza, Safi, Meknes and other cities According to press reports.

These demonstrations were guided by the union offices of the water and electricity companies and agencies affiliated with the National Assembly of Water, Electricity and Sanitation Distribution Workers, affiliated to the Moroccan Labor Union.

The demonstrators accused the Ministry of Economy and Finance of excluding them from the increase in wages despite the important and vital role they play, calling for the necessity of implementing all the provisions of the "Protocol" of Marrakesh, an agreement signed by the National Assembly of Water, Electricity and Sanitation Workers in Morocco with the General Directorate of Agencies.

Demonstrators emphasized that they are ready to engage in other forms of struggle in case relevant authorities continue to interact in a procrastinating manner with the demands of this broad segment of workers in the companies charged with distributing water and electricity in Casablanca, and in the rest of the country.
