The social situation in the European Container Transport Company is witnessing some tensions during this period due to the award of a transportation tender to a transport company in the capital, Amman.
The Jordanian Labor Observatory reported on its official website that on February 20, 2020, dozens of truck drivers working for the company carried out a protest in front of the “Bromine” company located near Ghor Al-Safi area.
The demonstration comes as a rejection to the decision of “Bromine” company to award a transfer tender to a transportation company in the capital, Amman.
Drivers said that this decision will directly affect their only source of livelihood, especially since they have been working for the European company for 13 years, and they are getting enough salaries to secure a decent living and pay their financial obligations.
They demanded that justice and equality be achieved between the two companies and that the tender be distributed equally between them, in order to secure a livelihood for their families and to give priority to the people of the province.
Drivers also added that “today we find ourselves overwhelmed with anxiety and fear about the company letting us go, which will make us lose our only source of livelihood.”
