President of “the People's Committee to lift blockade of the Gaza Strip”, Jamal Al-Khudari, revealed that “5.000 economic establishments in various productive sectors closed down due to the siege imposed by the occupation on the sector”.
Al-Khudari said in a statement that “The closure of these facilities is a dangerous indicator of the deterioration of the humanitarian situation as a result of the blockade. Thousands of workers, engineers, accountants and technicians stopped working, and the economic wheel had stopped”.
Al-Khudari added that “the reality in Gaza is causing catastrophic outcomes for the Palestinian economy, which in turn is having serious effects on the life of more than two million citizens.”
He stressed that living in suffocating siege causes consecutive crises that increase on a daily basis in all aspects of life”.
Al-Khudari pointed out that “unemployment and poverty rates are high as 85% of people in Gaza live below the poverty line giving a true picture of the catastrophic reality.”
“the blockade interferes in the most accurate details of life, namely goods entering and exiting Gaza, the occupation still impedes the export movement and continues to place great restrictions on the entry of the raw materials that are necessary for the industry”, explained Al-Khudari.
Al-Khudari also pointed out that “the movement against the lifting of the blockade is completely non-existent on the international level, there are no concrete practical steps to end this illegal, immoral and inhuman blockade, which is a collective punishment”.
Al-Khudari called on “All Arab, Islamic and international heads of states and governments to work hard in order to direct urgent support to overcome the deteriorating humanitarian situation that is caused by the continuing blockade situation.”
