Prime Minister Elias El-Fakhfakh said that there are many pledges made by the Tunisian state that were not implemented, noting that this is the reason behind wasting budget support opportunities in addition to the weak rate of completion of projects for which funds have been allocated and which he said is an average of only 30%.
In an interview with the newspaper “Al-Maghrib” published on Sunday, Al-Fakhfakh added that his government will work to change this with transparency and without fear, saying, “We, like all Tunisians, are aware of the difficulty of the current circumstance, and I realize that Tunisians are ready to sacrifice if they are honest and that they will engage in the rescue process because we will seek to clarify the positive horizon of this process. I was aware from the beginning that we have called the government a government of clarity and restoration of trust that requires sacrifices and this I will adhere to”.
Al- Fakhfakh raised their tendency towards freezing wages and not approving increases and cuts in state expenditures during the next three years and looking for new solutions.
“I consider that the proportion of wages of the product is based on wages and on gross domestic product”, he said. “We can talk about wages or the product that We must work on raising … And the solution of raising wages no longer convinces the people because the public utility no longer satisfies the people who consider that services are declining”, further explained Al-Fakhfakh.
Regarding the possibility of UGTT rejecting the proposal to control public spending and limit wages’ raises, Al-Fakhfakh presented a set of solutions that he said include “understandings on a 3-year program” adding that “next November we will present a five-year program with detailed and objective numbers … I came for the sake of objectivity, frankness and seriousness” In all cases, we all bear the responsibility of what will happen to things, personally “asserting” that I will bear it and the country needs everyone to win it … and this is the speech and pledge that I will preserve”.
