The Spanish non-governmental organization Mediterano, operating the humanitarian ship “Aita Mari”, announced that the Italian authorities allowed the ship, on Tuesday, February 11, to land 158 migrants they had previously rescued off the Libyan coast in the Mediterranean.
The Spanish Maritime Rescue Authority tweeted on its official twitter page, a suggestion of the possibility of landing migrants in the port of “Meissen” in Sicily on Thursday, February 13, noting that this depends on the sea conditions.
The migrants were recovered in the rescue operations carried out by the ship last Sunday and Monday, off the Libyan coast, where the ship's crew rescued 93 migrants, 16 women, including three pregnant women, 37 minors and 40 men.
The second operation was carried out on the following day, when 60 other migrants who were found on a wooden boat were rescued.
On the other hand, the “Rescue Call” organization warned of the presence of another boat with 91 migrants on board off the coast of Tripoli, but no news related to this boat were reported until February 12 morning.
