The General Union of Workers in the Oil and Gas Sector of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Iraq issued a statement, in which it announced its surprise by the cut of the additional work fees for alternates, and affirmed its rejection of this deduction, calling for the respect of the rights of workers in this sector.
The union warned of the gravity of this step, as approximately 120,000 dinars will be deducted from each alternate’s wage ($ 100 per worker).
The union called on workers and unions to unite in the defence of their rights and accomplished gains.
The union also stressed in its statement that the efforts of employees of the oil sector in general and alternates in particular should be valued for their dedication to work and their insurance of the continuity of the productive process in this sector, despite the difficult conditions they face such as the difficulty of accessing the work site.
