The General Federation of Trade Unions of Jordan announced its rejection and denunciation of the American peace plan, saying that it completely ignores the rights of the Palestinian people and its aspirations to establish an independent state with sovereignty over the Palestinian territories and its capital, the holy city of Jerusalem.
The Federation said that the deal’s proposal is "expropriating the Palestinian territories for the sake of the occupied and usurped Zionist entity."
In a press release, the Federation also pointed out that what came in this deal is considered a major infringement on the rights of the Palestinian people, “our people and brothers in occupied Palestine, the land of the prophets and messengers, the land of Israa and Mi'raj”.
It also affirmed its strong adherence to the Hashemite guardianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in holy Jerusalem, and cannot relinquish the honor of guardianship and supervision of these sanctuaries, “which were once Islamic and Arab which Hashemites had custody over it, namely the protection of its Arab Islamic Christian identity”.
The statement also noted “We confirm our march behind our Hashemite leadership in rejecting this deal, which was contrary to all religious and historical norms and values and struck by the wall human values and international charters.
It also refers to “the total disregard of international positions that reject colonialism and respects the rights of the Palestinian people including its right to self-determination and having sovereign territories.”
The release also highlighted the necessity for a plan “Away from the Israeli hegemony and unilateral actions aimed at creating new facts on the ground and violating the holy city of Jerusalem”.
