The National Federation of Trade Unions of Workers and Employees (FENASOL for its French acronym) in Lebanon warned against “the continuing persistance in violating the rights and gains of the working class, especially social security."
In a statement, FENASOL considered that the decision made by the Social Security Administration to link the benefits to the payment of contributions is unacceptable and that workers will not be the victim of such procedure.
FENASOL noted that the Social Security Administration should use inspection and other methods to pursue the institutions and companies that fail to pay social security contributions.
It also warned against continuing this decision in violation of the law, which endangers the social security, workers, the guaranteed, and their families by not paying health and other benefits to social security.
FENASOL called on the security department to expedite the payment of health benefits and the completion of transactions instead of lagging in procedures which do not serve the beneficiaries.
In the same statement, FENASOL called on “union forces, unionists and workers to prepare to stand against this decision with all available forms of struggle for these rights”.
FENASOL also called on “the management of the National Social Security Fund to immediately overturn this illegal measure.”
