Public sector engineers in Jordan are continuing their partial strike, from eight in the morning until eleven, as a demand for a raise in the provided technical allowance.
According to the Jordanian Labour Observatory website, citing chief of Jordanian engineers’ syndicate Eng. Ahmad Samara Al – Zubi, the union had a meeting last Thursday with the minister of education and the chief of agricultural engineers’ syndicate.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss the allowances’ raises of engineers working in the ministry of education. The chief clarified that discussions will be resumed next week.
Al – Zubi pointed out that the syndicate’s council appreciates the efforts made by public sector engineers during the past month through their commitment to strike until they achieve their legitimate demands.
The syndicate’s council also clarified that “until this moment, the council is still doing its best in negotiating with all parties to obtain the technical allowance that public sector engineers deserve”. It also noted that “this strike is receiving support of unions and different parties for their rightful demands”.
