The Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT by its French acronym) announced that it will be organizing a protest on Wednesday, February 5, in support of the Palestinian people. A march will take place in Habib Bourguiba Avenue to denounce “Deal of the Century”.
UGTT had already published a press release regarding “Deal of the Century”, in which it explained that US president Donald Trump timed his declaration of the plan he made to resolve the Palestinian Arab and Zionist conflict ,or what he called “Deal of the Century”, with preparations for his electoral campaign, namely to gain the support of Zionist lobbyists.
The same press release highlighted the fact that the “Deal” is a plan aiming at stripping Palestinian refugees of their right to return and allocating all of Jerusalem as the capital of the usurping entity. As planned in this “Deal” also, the town of “Shuafat”, which is adjacent to Jerusalem, would be granted to the Palestinians to be the capital of their small state. The occupation state would have full control over borderlines.
The communique also added that such propositions are only meant to liquidate Palestinian rights, nullify existing international resolutions and to terminally impose the normalization with and the integration of the Zionist entity into both the Arab and International community.
On the other hand, UGTT noted in it’s the same release the heinous attempt in Tunisia to impose the content of this deal through the gate of normalization with Zionists and their cancerous entity. Such attempt involved the Tunisian Tennis Federation which was implicated in a blatant act of normalization through accepting to involve a Zionist Tennis player in an international tournament hosted by Tunisia.
UGTT condemned the vile “Deal of the Century”, expressing its rejection of it and considering it a declared war against peoples’ right to self-determination and their right to resist for the liberation of their entire lands.
UGTT also condemned the silence and complicity of some submissive Arab states, which it considered an attempt to make this deal of shame go through.
The released statement also called on all national forces to counteract this and to work to overthrow it. It also called on the free people of the world, those who defend the peoples’ right to self-determination and sovereignty over their territories, to reject such conspiracy.
UGTT stressed in its press release its condemnation of the implication of the Tunisian Tennis Federation in normalization and called for holding those responsible for such an act accountable as well as taking the necessary legal measures towards them. It also denounced the arrest of protesters over the involvement of the Tunisian Tennis Federation, in Cité Olympique.
A demand for the Tunisian authorities to explicitly declare their rejection of the shame deal was also made. The statement also noted the need to prosecute those normalizing relationships with the Zionist entity in different fields, namely: Academia, economics, tourism, culture, sports etc… It also called for the enactment of a Tunisian law criminalizing normalization.
