The social situation in the basic education sector is witnessing a state of restlessness and anger because the authorities ignored the demands of the teachers that they submitted at the end of last year.
The teachers of primary education in Mauritania announced on 22 of this month that they had stopped teaching for 3 hours, in protest against what they described as the neglect of the educational authorities in the country, for their demand, which they submitted at the end of 2019.
The Coordinator of Basic Education in Mauritania clarified that the partial cessation of teaching comes as a protest against the failure of the official authorities to deal with the demands of the teachers, waving to escalate, if this continues.
Mauritanian teachers are calling for better working conditions, by increasing salaries and allowances, and providing decent housing.
