The General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions recalled being the first to call for an increase in the minimum wage by organizing dozens of protests since 2010. Protests in which several unionists participated, including the secretary-general of the International Trade Union Confederation ( CSI), Sharan Burrow.
In a press release, the Federation explained that it had noted, during the sessions of the national dialogue on this issue, that it had been agreed to fix the minimum wage at 1450 shekels while the Federation considers that this same salary should be fixed at 2450 shekels.
The General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions recalled having organized, at the beginning of 2019, a major campaign to call for an increase in the minimum wage and a large sit-in, held on 19/09/2019, to call for respect minimum wage and to develop local legislation dedicated to the protection of workers.
