Workers at Petronide Oil Field in the Heglig region on Tuesday observed a two-day labor strike to protest the freeze on wage increases. Workers have threatened to halt oil production on the main fields of Sudan.
The company ‘Pétronide’, owned by the intelligence services, has three drilling rigs for the maintenance of oil wells located in the Heglig, Neem and Abiye regions.
The online newspaper ‘Altaghyir’ said the Neem and Dafra fields have been shutdown for three days after local residents have moved to put pressure on the society that continues to ignore the strike.
The company ‘Crater Nile’ manages oil production in the Heglig, Neem and Bloum fields while the company ‘Pétronide’ takes care of well maintenance logistics.
