The Bahla City Court of First Instance issued nine verdicts against a recruiting agency that broke the consumer protection law published by Royal Decree number 66/2014. The verdict condemned the office to a total fine of 900 omani riyals and a reimbursement of 1,550 riyals when the office was closed for good.
The case dates back to a complaint to the city’s consumer defense administration, where citizens claimed to have paid advances at the office to recruit domestic workers. In this context, local media explained that it was agreed that the workers would arrive after a few weeks before the office broke down, which led its customers to file a complaint with the administration which took the necessary measures before transferring the case to the Court of First Instance.
The office has already been condemned in similar cases and that it has been temporarily closed by the specialized authorities.
