Iraq: Parliament calls for amendment of the retirement law

More than 50 Iraqi parliamentarians signed a petition calling for the amendment of the unified pension law recently approved by Parliament.

In this context, local media reported that the petitioner's deputies considered that the law in question excludes teachers and assistant teachers from the public service. The interested parties also considered that the skills being retired can block the country on several levels which led them to draft the said petition in order to preserve, mainly the teachers and assistants since their specialty is rare in Iraq.

It should be noted that the Department of Iraqi Facts, under the Ministry of Justice, announced last Monday the publication of the first amendment to the Unified Retirement Act for entry into force.
