Jordan: Public sector engineers protest

The Committee of Engineers of the Public Sector has threatened to start a work strike tomorrow Wednesday if the demands of professionals in the sector are not met.

In this context, the Jordanian Labor Observatory explained that the engineers are demanding a 180% increase in the premium for recently recruited engineers and the granting of a bonus according to the professional class as follows: 200% for the 5th class, 220 for 3rd and 4th class, 235% for 1st and 2nd class. They also called for a 20% salary increase for each class.

The engineers organized, last Saturday, a protest rally in front of the union headquarters followed. Subsequently, the protesters filed a note with the Union Council where they mentioned the requests, including, among other things, the cancellation of the agreement signed between the government and the union party, the initiation of a dialogue around the amendments requested and the preservation of all their rights.
