The national office of the National Union of Education, under the Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT), issued a press release denouncing the postponement of the negotiation session on Wednesday December 11, 2019 by the Ministry of National Education. In its statement, the national office explained that it received a "phone call" from the central services of the ministry informing it of the postponement of the meeting without specifying a new date. In this context, the National Education Union strongly criticized the attack on the rights and achievements of the Moroccan people.
The union called on the ministry to restore the wage levies against striker teachers explaining that the sanction in question has no legal basis. In addition, the Union renewed its condemnation of the oppressions carried out against qualified teachers and called for an end to the practices employed by the regional offices against the strikers whose rights are guaranteed by the Constitution and the international conventions ratified by Morocco.
The national office of the National Education Union also called on the entire educational community to remain attentive and to prepare to carry out various forms of activism in order to defend public school and the right to strike. The national office said the next step requires a perfect union among all workers to restore the dignity of teachers and the key role of public school.
