work of the program of collaboration between Italy and Tunisia in the field of migration. The FTDES warned against Italy's pressure against Tunisia, which threatens the sovereignty of the latter and called for the suspension of any negotiations between the two countries that does not respect the rights of migrants and pushes towards collective and forced expulsions.

The FTDES has launched a call for collaboration between Italy and Tunisia that respects the rights of migrants on one side and the sovereignty of both countries on the other. This call was launched following a negotiation session between the two countries, during the current month, at the headquarters of the Italian Ministry of the Interior with the aim of reaching an agreement on migration and development.

The FTDES said in a statement that the meeting took place following the latest pressure from the Italian government to speed up expulsions of Tunisian migrants. The Forum recalled that this is also part of the Italian government's operation to establish the capacity of ports to accelerate expulsions of migrants. The official media pressure on Tunisia has recently increased since the country can manage its maritime borders. The number of irregular migrants who have landed in Italy has decreased by 50% in the period from January to September 2019 with 2175 migrants against 5034 for the same period of 2018.

The FTDES has called for the suspension of any negotiations that do not take into consideration the rights of migrants and all collaborations with the Italian authorities aimed at expelling migrants collectively. The Forum renewed its support for all humanitarian operations in the Mediterranean that respect human rights and the sovereignty of States.
