Lebanon: The Confederation of General Workers of Lebanon calls for the rapid formation of a government

The Confederation of General Workers of Lebanon (CGTL) said the current week will be decisive for the future of the country and called, in the same context, for the rapid formation of a new government.

These statements come as protesters closed main roads in different parts of the country the day before yesterday, when the army has managed to reopen some of them. In addition, calls for a general strike to end the demands of the Lebanese social movement (including the formation of a new apolitical government to implement reforms and fight against corruption), are becoming increasingly persistent.

In this context, the National News Agency reported that protesters blocked several roads in Tripoli, Beirut and other southern cities. Schools, universities and companies had to close their doors the day before yesterday.

Protests in Lebanon have been going on for more than two weeks and that they have brought Prime Minister Saad Hariri, announced his resignation last week. Lebanon is facing its worst crisis since the civil war in 1975 and 1990.
