Hundreds of protesters gathered yesterday at Ettahrir Square in central Baghdad as part of protests calling for the regime's downfall. To disperse the protesters, the Iraqi police used tear gas.
Despite the death toll of 63, during the second wave of anti-government protests, Iraqis preferred to continue to come together to face the crisis in the country.
For their part, media reported that Prime Minister Adel Abdelmehdi and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Halboussi presented several proposals aimed at putting in place a battery of reforms that did not, however, calm the protesters.
In Ettahrir Square, some protesters positioned themselves on the roofs of some shops to plant Iraqi flags while others set fire to tires where garbage was collected. Other demonstrators planted tents as volunteers began distributing water and food.
