Press reports revealed the difficulties faced by foreign cleaners and security guards in Kuwait as a result of the control of the companies that employ them.
Reports explained that the latter makes them work long hours, while manipulating their salaries and delaying and not paid in some cases, in addition to problems related to visa, residence and health insurance, despite attempts by the Kuwaiti government to put an end to the manipulation of private companies and workers to pressure them to force to pay their salaries and to treat them humanely.
The country's cleaners, most of whom are Bangladeshi nationals, are reported to carry out repeated strikes throughout the year as operators fail to pay their salaries for periods of up to four months and more, although the Kuwaiti government contracting them provides them with their dues on time.
It is worth noting that the Kuwaiti government does not directly hire cleaners, but rather contracts with private companies that provide labor to clean the streets, utilities and public administrations from ministries and others. Transfer of papers, official transactions, etc.
The suffering is not limited to the cleaners, but also to the security guards of the security companies contracted by the government to protect and operate some facilities, most of whom hold Egyptian citizenship.
They complain about the irregularity of the companies in terms of paying their salaries, while their working hours extend up to 15 hours for salaries, some of which do not exceed 90 dinars (about $ 300), which do not include the cost of housing and food.
