Jordan: 'ARDD' organizes a seminar on women's initiatives in the Arab world

A seminar entitled ' The key to change: lessons from women's initiatives in the Arab world' was organized last week in Amman by the organization 'ARDD'. Participating activists at this seminar emphasized the importance of the feminist movement in the Middle East region and the scope of its achievements in addressing the major challenges that exist. These activists called for more attention to issues of family, conflict and forced migration.

They also explained that there are not enough measures to protect women living in conflict zones, with the exception of feminist organizations and human rights organizations, while women are the most vulnerable and more exposed, with their families, to danger.

In this context, some researchers indicated that more research is needed to seek a general vision of women and their role; research that should be based, among other things, on unpaid work.

In the same seminar, it was recalled that women also do not enjoy the necessary protection compared to men. In addition, questions have been raised about the political will in the Arab region on the issue of women's rights, which must find a way to make its voice heard on the political scene where men have a monopoly on the rights of women.
