Last Sunday, security officers shot in the air during a sit-in organized by teachers in front of the Ministry of Education in El Beida to disperse them.
Protests by teachers are continuing in several cities and regions of Libya to call for the implementation of Law No. 4 of 2018 on the salary increase of the administrative and educational body, the activation of insurance disease and the separation of the Ministry of Education and Teaching from that of Higher Education.
