Jordan's teachers enter third week of strike action

Yesterday, thousands of teachers organized a protest rally in front of the group of professional unions in the governorate of Mafraq as part of the movements led by the Jordan Teachers’ Syndicate to obtain a 50 per cent salary increase

The strike began when tens of thousands of teachers across the kingdom took to the streets of Amman in protest of a 50 percent salary increase they were promised by the government five years ago, but the latter proposes another solution which is the professional process.

The Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research asked to obtain the list of teachers strikers (containing the names, schools and the number of days of strike) which caused widespread outrage in Jordan.
