The agents of the ground services department at Mohamed V International Airport called for the immediate release of their colleagues (arrested in a case which was built up from nothing) saying the charges against them are unfounded.
Officers said it is now vital to stop the series of lawsuits against workers who make great efforts to ensure the continuity of public service while working in inadequate working conditions.
This call was launched following a meeting of about 900 agents last Wednesday at the headquarters of the Moroccan Union of Labor (UMT) in Casablanca. During this meeting, the workers renewed their call to stop all the provocative practices in the workplace. They also called for the immediate application of the collective charter signed with all interested parties and local authorities. The agents stated that they intend to continue working in the Ministry and to continue to demand the guarantee of their fundamental rights, in particular that relating to professional stability.
Mohamed V international airport has for some time experienced major social tensions where workers continue to demand the application of the charter signed last June. Faced with these claims, the airport administration opted for the solution of the arrests and repressions.
