Local media reported that the National Guard agents, under the Ministry of National Defense, raided Sunday evening to Monday at the office of 'France 24' in the suburbs of El Biar in the capital.
While the authorities did not react to this information, activists and journalists relayed it and claimed that the journalist Sofiene Marrakchi, a correspondent for several foreign channels including 'France 24', was arrested. So far, no one has managed to make contact with Marrakchi.
According to preliminary information, the office was closed after 'France 24' granted broadcasting rights to 'Al Jazeera' which is not accredited in Algeria.
