Palestinians in different Lebanon camps continued for the eighth consecutive Friday, marches and protests against the Lebanese Minister of Labor's insistence on his decision to treat Palestinian workers who have been refugees since 1948, as foreign workers, and compelling them to issue work permits.
According to the correspondent of Anadolu Agency, the Palestinian Labor Organization, the popular committees and the popular movement in Saida area and Ain Al-Helwa camp in southern Lebanon organized one Friday prayer and a collective demonstration against the Ministry of Labor decision and also a refusal of the recent violations by the occupation in Al-Haram Al-Ibrahimi.
After the end of the prayer, a unified demonstration was launched, led by representatives of different national forces, popular committees, popular movements, youth, and civics, raising Palestinian flags, shouting slogans calling for guaranteeing a decent life.
The protesters denounced "the desecration of the Ibrahimi Mosque", calling upon "the International Community to stop the continuous aggression on the Islamic and Christian holy sites".
Palestinian camps in Lebanon witness protests since about two months against the Ministry of Labor decision of imposing a work permit for Palestinian refugees.
On 12 August last, Lebanese Minister of Labor Kamil Abu Suleiman said in a statement that the law cannot be stopped and that he insists on discussing the plan for Palestinian refugees.
Last July, the Lebanese Ministry of Labor began implementing a plan that it was said to regulate the conditions of foreign workers, including Palestinians living in Lebanon.
According to the plan, employers are not allowed to employ Palestinian refugees without a permit, as well as closing Palestinian institutions and facilities that do not have the necessary work permits.
The total number of Palestinian refugees living in Lebanon is 174,422 , in 12 camps and 156 agglomerations in the five governorates of Lebanon, according to the latest statistics of the Lebanese Central Bureau of Statistics for 2017.
