The agreement concerning the increase in salaries of physicians, engineers and university professors was signed between the government and the General Union of Tunisian Workers (UGTT), on Wednesday September 5th, at the Kasbah government palace.
The increase comes after negotiations between the government and the union aimed at improving the purchasing power of physicians, engineers and professors and improving their working conditions in order to minimize their migration out of the country, a phenomenon that has grown significantly in recent years.
Negotiations for increase in payments for outstanding staff working in university institutions will be completed latest by next Monday.
Details include providing higher education corps a raise between 1,000 dinars ($ 349) and 400 dinars ($ 139), physicians between 1,100 dinars ($ 384) and 100 dinars ($ 35), and engineers corps between 750 dinars ( $ 261) and $ 300 ($ 104) .
