On Sunday, forest workers in Oran (North West Algeria) organized a protest rally in front of the governorate headquarter.
The local newspaper 'Annahar' reported that protesting workers carried up banners and slogans demanding the departure of the forest responsible. The workers also called for the creation of a ministerial investigation committee to study the overruns against the wealth of the region's forests.
The protesters drew attention to a number of excesses committed for the benefit of influential parties; overtaking to change large areas of forest into lots of land for luxurious buildings all with the complicity of administrative parties.
