Morocco: About 1,000 public sector doctors resigned

For the second day in a row, the public sector doctors protest calling for the rescue of the public health sector which is experiencing 'disastrous conditions'. Local media reported that the Public Sector Medical Committee plans to start new national strikes, with the exception of emergency and resuscitation services, on August 19, 22 and 23, to protest the low rate of specialist doctors who have were recruited from hospitals for this year. According to a well-informed source, only 200 medical specialists have been recruited this proves that, contrary to the assertion of the Ministry of Health, public health is facing its worst year in terms of recruitment.

In addition, the Public Sector Physicians Committee has announced that so far, a thousand doctors have joined the collective resignation campaign and called in a statement "to activate the partnership between the public and private sectors in two senses, the improvement of the working conditions of public sector professionals and the release of compensation '.

Faced with these protests, the Ministry of Health rejected all these resignations explaining that they are illegal and continues to say that, despite everything that circulates on social networks, hospitals work normally.
