The Public Authority for Manpower has canceled 56,000 foreign work permits.
The authority said its action came after making sure about the accuracy of data from the interior ministry.
The law allows the authority to cancel a work permit automatically in several cases, including if the worker spends more than six consecutive months out of Kuwait without a permit from the residency affairs department, when the residency permit expires, and if the worker is deported.
