Jerusalem activist Amal Kacem, sister of militant and martyr Omar Kacem known as the 'Mandela of Palestine' and a member of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, died last Saturday.
Kacen died at the age of 59 following a long fight with disease. The funeral was held on Sunday proceeding from the al-Aqsa Mosque to the Lions Gate Cemetery.
Jerusalem residents call the late Amal Kacem a "stubborn activist" who has been known for her staunch stand in favor of the Palestinian affair and the city of Jerusalem. The deceased was the president of the Sheikh Jarrah Women's Association.
