On July 30, Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions kicked off the national campaign to eradicate violence and harassment at work with the participation of Sharan Burrow, Secretary-General of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC); the campaign was placed under the theme 'eradicating gender discrimination and combating the exploitation of Palestinian women at work'.
The ceremony, which took place in Ramallah, was attended by; Amal Hamad, Minister of Women, Chaher Saad, Secretary-General of the Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions, Mounir Kalibou, Director of the International Labor Office (ILO), Mona Khalili, Vice-President Secretary-General of the General Union of Women and several other national, international and trade union figures.
This agreement will address the different forms of human rights violations, especially those related to inequality of opportunity, the violation of standards of dignified work and the strengthening of the environment of violence and harassment.
ITUC General Secretary Sharon Burrow was the guest of Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions in the city of Yatta with Chaher Saad, and was received by Samir Harizat, treasurer of the subsidiary, Mohamed Rabâ, President of the General Union of Transport Workers, Jafaar Khatib, President of the Petrochemical Syndicate, Mohamed Abou Alian, President of the Municipality workers’ Union, Hani Zine of the Electricity Company and a member of the union of the company, Mohamed Biraoui, the journalist Chirine Harizet and Faouzi Maamour representative of the committee for protection and resilience.
Later, Sharan Burrow carried out some field visits where she could find out the workers ' situation in the region.
